The painter-sculptor Raoul Ubac was born in 1910 in Malmédy (Ardennes, Belgium). He went to school there, then settled down in Paris in 1930. He joined La Sorbonne (Paris) to follow studies of letters, but changed his way and decided to frequent the Art Academies of Montparnasse. He discovered little by little his vocation for the art. He saw surrealists regularly and often participated in the . . .

The publication of a postal stamp is often a homage paid by a nation to a place, an event, a remarkable cause or a character which count. The painters and other artists do not escape from this rule. Some are however "forgotten" of postal art. Here, gathered below (French or foreign), emitted stamps (206) or simple studies of stamp (224) in homage to the artists represented on our website. The first French stamp was emitted in 1849, England preceded us by ten years. There is often a share of voyage in this small form of shape paper. A tribute to Raoul Ubac

Le peintre - photographe, sculpteur, graveur - d’origine belge Raoul Ubac s’est éteint le 24 mars 1985 à Dieudonné (Oise) où il vivait. Il avait 74 ans. Ses cendres furent éparpillées dans le Jardin du Souvenir au cimetière du Père Lachaise à Paris. Celles de son épouse l’y rejoignirent il y a peu. En hommage à leur mémoire, avec respect, un lys double.
