Ellsworth Kelly is born in Newburgh (New York, USA) in 1923. His work is linked to the minimalist movement. He studies art in New York, Boston and Paris. The young artist moves to Paris between 1948 and 1954, he founds there the orientation of his art. Kelly uses painting as a design element, creating a set of links and relationships between shapes and colors that form a new visual balance.
