Claude Gilli is born in Nice in 1938. He enters the School of Decorative Arts in Nice in 1955. In 1957, he meets Albert Chubac and his first exhibition is organized with him and Martial Raysse ("Painters of twenty years" at the gallery Longchamp Nice). The publication of a postal stamp is often a homage paid by a nation to a place, an event, a remarkable cause or a character which count. The painters and other artists do not escape from this rule. Some are however "forgotten" of postal art. Here, gathered below (French or foreign), emitted stamps (206) or simple studies of stamp (224) in homage to the artists represented on our website. The first French stamp was emitted in 1849, England preceded us by ten years. There is often a share of voyage in this small form of shape paper. The stamp circulates, sails, flies away, it makes dream, then dream a little. M.C.
When the stamp is really emitted, the artist name is preceded of an asterisk (*). It is certain that we do not know each stamp emitted for such or such artist; do not hesitate with us to make known them!

A tribute to Claude Gilli

Il avait participé, aux côtés de Yves Klein, Albert Chubac, Martial Raysse, Ben et d'autres, à la création de l'École de Nice. Issu d'une vieille famille niçoise, Claude Gilli, artiste sans doute le plus « pop art » d'entre eux, atteint d’une sclérose en plaques, est décédé à l’hôpital de Nice au matin de dimanche 28 juin 2015 à l'âge de 76 ans. Une cérémonie religieuse sera organisée le 3 juillet au monastère de Cimiez. En son hommage, cet arum.
"En 1965, et en ce domaine il doit être considéré comme un précurseur, naissent les premières coulées. Toujours serties dans le bois mais laquées, en formes plates simplifiées, vivement colorées, elles désertent le pot en suspension, délaissant le mur pour développer dans une irrémédiable et onctueuse plongée vers le sol, des flaques lisses irrégulièrement composées, d’un impact visuel surprenant." - Gérard Xuriguera
"Les traces d’escargots sont aux coulées ce que le mouvement est à l’immobilité : un rapport très réel, très tendu, la même chose mais en sens inverse. En plus, de l’escargot coule la trace, la couleur n’étant que la référence de l’identification. Et pas n’importe quelle trace.
