The publication of a postal stamp is often a homage paid by a nation to a place, an event, a remarkable cause or a character which count. The painters and other artists do not escape from this rule. Some are however "forgotten" of postal art. Here, gathered below (French or foreign), emitted stamps (206) or simple studies of stamp (224) in homage to the artists represented on our website. The first French stamp was emitted in 1849, England preceded us by ten years. There is often a share of voyage in this small form of shape paper. The stamp circulates, sails, flies away, it makes dream, then dream a little. M.C.

Notes of biography
Robert Rauschenberg is born in Port Arthur (United States). He studies at the Kansas City Art Institute (1946-1947), at the Julian Academy (Paris, 1947) and at the Black Mountain College (1958-1960). His first solo exhibition is organized in 1951; during this period, he paints black or white canvases to stand out from the Abstract Expressionists.
He participates, the following year, in the first historical happenings, which takes place at the Black Mountain College. Rauschenberg imagines, period 1953-1964, the paintings-collages in which he combines in his works, paintings, objects, pictures, newspapers, and an entire stuffed bestiary.
He plays on the paradoxes and mythology of the daily life. In 1964, Robert Rauschenberg is the first American artist to receive the Grand Prize of the Venice Biennial.
In the 60s, he uses serigraphy to compose his paintings-collages where prints are united to cuttings and reproductions of classical masters. In 1966, he co-founded "Experiments in Art and Technology", an association created to foster cooperation between artists and scientists.
Rauschenberg realizes constructions of objects with new materials (Plexiglas, Cardboards, Veiling, etc.).
Since the 80s, he makes collages, operating transfers of images on Plexiglas, takes photography that he represents on aluminum media, juxtaposing different images (landscapes, animals, architecture, etc.). Robert Rauschenberg lives and works in Captiva (Florida) and New York.
Artists on display
The art and the artists display: proclamations, galleries, museums, personal or collective exhibitions. On walls or in shop windows, wise or rebels, posters warn, argue, show. Some were specially conceived by an artist for such or such event, other, colder, have only the letter.
Some were created in lithographic technic, most are simple offset reproductions. They are many those who like collecting these rectangles of paper, monochrome or in games of colours, in matt paper or brilliant, with many words or almost dumb.
