Biography of Patrick Jannin-Oms
Patrick Jannin-Oms was born in 1944 in Villemomble, near Paris, to a mother who was a drawing teacher and a father who was a non-conformist and whimsical artist.
At an early age, she took evening modeling classes at the École Boulle, then entered the Beaux-Arts de Paris (1961-67) at the age of 16 (complete classical training in drawing, painting and sculpture). In 1968, she began practicing engraving at the Delpech studio in Montparnasse, Paris. Until 1974, she worked in collaboration with architects: painting, tapestries and frescoes.
She now devotes herself to engraving. Her work is mainly published by Éditions Jacqueline de Champvallins, and is exhibited at international art fairs: FIAC Paris, ARTEXPO New York, Tokyo International Art Show, Estampa Madrid, Art Multiple Düsseldorf...In 1975, Galerie Nordenhake in Malmö, Sweden, gave him his first solo show. Numerous regular group and solo exhibitions followed in France, Europe, America and Asia. At the same time, Patrick Jannin-Oms designed frescoes for private homes. In collaboration with her husband, the painter François Jannin, they produce all the prints themselves in their own studio. From the 90s onwards, the artist gradually returned to painting. Today, based in La Borne in the Cher department, she has chosen to give priority to painting, in a sort of return to her roots. Her work is intended to be peaceful! The whites, considered as silences, harmonize the modern expression that today enriches numerous public (Musée d' Art Moderne de Paris...) and private collections."Craftswomen and gardeners, hands, mouths and thoughts, she gives shape to birds, first concealed in proofs, then given freedom. Then come tangles of screens drifting in space, trapping flight, migration, escape, nesting, memories of wings haunt her studio," writes Gérard Prernel.
