Biography of Paolo Ghilardi
Paolo Ghilardi is born in Bergamo in 1930. He teaches painting at the Public Art School of Bergamo from 1968 to 1986, then the "Theory of Color and Painting" at the Carrara Academy in Bergamo from 1977 to 1980. Beyond his career as a painter that allows him to obtain important personal exhibitions in Italy and abroad (France, Germany, Spain, Poland, Japan), he participates to the activities of the International Center for Studies of Antwerpen- Bonn Constructive Art, and is chosen in 1982 to think and realize the urban decorum of the historical center of Bergamo, his hometown. Ghilardi works on transparency, on the virtuality, and naturally on the rational perception of things. He gradually abandons the traditional symbolic field of the canvas to free his gesture on the three dimensions of the wall, art capable to seek new dimension of "space" and "time". The works of Paolo Ghilardi are exhibited in the permanent collections of major public institutions in Italy and abroad.
