Biography of Mariano Vargas
He is dedicated to photography since he is 20 years. Spanish photographer Mariano Vargas goes back and forth between modernity (as expressed by female beauty) and classicism (inspired by paintings from the distant past). His art education draws most of his inspiration from the great masters of painting (Raphael, Botticelli and Leonardo da Vinci) than photographers. In a highly original manner, with a claimed mixture of signs, he pays tribute to the woman, representing her with ggreat beauty and sensuality. The artist works on alert for beauty in all its forms. His way and his manner of expression impose themselves in a kind of “intuitive flash”. The creative process of Mariano Vargas goes through the drawing of rapid sketches on paper supposed to set the idea or script, the painting or situation, seen or imagined, the woman in an artificial space into an impossible relation that only him establishes. Multiplied Madonna both in a time-lag and in a timeless beauty. Between postmodern kitsch and a sacred esthetics, using unashamedly all available tools to approach the perfection of lines and colors, the artist shows his references with multiple signs. Combining surreal impressions in deliberately dreamlike spaces, Vargas is an artist of the smooth, perhaps, but also of the break. Mariano Vargas lives in Cadiz on the coast of Andalusia, between the Mediterranean and Atlantic.
