    L’ensemble de plus de 950 œuvres imprimées de Johnny Friedlaender est répertorié dans cinq volumes constituant le Catalogue Raisonné de l’œuvre gravé. Le premier volume (période 1930-1972, avec 477 gravures répertoriées), à lui seul, décrit près de la moitié de l’œuvre imprimée de l’artiste ; établi par Rolf Schmücking, il paraîtra en 1973 aux Editions Galerie Schmücking Braunschweig. Une « Jeune fille au collier », gravure de 1930, ouvre le banc de ce premier volume de près de 500 pages où toutes les reproductions des planches sont en noir et blanc. On notera que les 19 derniers numéros de l’ouvrage (459 à 477) répertorient les affiches originales de Friedlaender réalisées entre 1951 (Galerie La Hune, Paris) et 1970 (Galerie Schmücking, Braunschweig). Cet ouvrage, comme le sont souvent les catalogues raisonnés, est sans doute l’incontournable référence pour connaître et comprendre la démarche et l’évolution de l’artiste au fil de ans.
