Alain Jacquet was born in 1939 in Neuilly-sur-Seine. For 2 years, he studies architecture at the Fine Arts School in Paris, then moves to New York in the early 60s. There, he does Pop Art-like paintings; Pop Art being typically american, the artist is not recognized in the United States and thus is ostracized again as he is in France (his art being too remote from the New Realism trend). Alain Jacquet's main breakthrough takes place int the Mec-Art context as he one of its strongest advocate. He uses images in a playful way realizing mechanical paintings which let the print watermark appear. « Classical » works (such as « Déjeuner sur l'herbe ») are made up to give them a magazine or an advertizing look. The artist just uses few colors and the woof to create ambiguities. Alain Jacquet is easily ranked within the New Figuration or Narrative Figuration movements. Torn between the Paris and New York artistic movements, Alain Jacquet shared his time between the 2 cultural cities. Alain Jacquet died in New York 2008.

Artists on display
The art and the artists display: proclamations, galleries, museums, personal or collective exhibitions. On walls or in shop windows, wise or rebels, posters warn, argue, show. Some were specially conceived by an artist for such or such event, other, colder, have only the letter.
Some were created in lithographic technic, most are simple offset reproductions. They are many those who like collecting these rectangles of paper, monochrome or in games of colours, in matt paper or brilliant, with many words or almost dumb.
We are happy also to be able to greet, by this pages, mythical galleries as those of Denise René, Louis Carré, Claude Bernard, Berheim Jeune, Maeght, Pierre Loeb and others.
