    D’aucun pense que la suite réalisée par Kurt Seligmann en 1944 pour « Œdipe » est l’un des sommets de la gravure surréaliste. « Comme le pensait l’artiste, l’image est devenue le lieu de rapports idéals entre les formes et leur contenu, » écrit R. M. Mason dans sa préface au Catalogue Raisonné de l’œuvre gravé de Kurt Seligmann. Cet ouvrage de référence sera publié en 1982 par le Cabinet des Estampes (Genève) et les Editions du Tricorne ; environ 180 oeuvres originales sur papier y sont répertoriées, comprenant l’ensemble des gravures - eaux-fortes, aquatintes, burins – ou lithographies de l’artiste, y compris son oeuvre dans le domaine du livre illustré ou du portefeuille. « Protubérances cardiaques » sera le premier d’entre eux (1933), une suite de 15 gravures réunies en cartable. Suivra « Les vagabondages héraldiques » en 1934, ouvrages dont les gravures - réduites et reproduites – composeront « Métiers des Hommes » aux Ed. GLM en 1936. D’autres ouvrages viendront . . .
