Bob Zoell was born in Regina, Canada in 1940. He moved to Los Angeles in 1965. He had almost fifty years art career, with many distinctions and grants (Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation in 1993, Pollack/Krasner in 1994, etc). In 2001-2002 he was invited as visiting faculty in painting at U.C.L.A. (University of California, Los Angeles). Bob Zoell showed his work most of the time throughout the US but also in Japan, Spain and France (1985-1986). He was a regular contributor to the « New Yorker » magazine with seven covers for his credit. He collaborated with architects and design teams on public and private art projects (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Dashville). Painter, « best performer in colors », he produced prints and books which reveal his artistic genius. Often minimalist, the artist explored language and form in his murals with a special graphic sensibility. All over his life, Bob Zoell did solo or group exhibitions (Ace Contemporary, Los Angeles, Parco Museum, Tokyo, Centre Georges Pompidou, etc).
