Biography of Agostino Bonalumi
Agostino Bonalumi was born in Vimercate (Italy) in 1935. He studied technical and mechanical drawing and exhibited his first works in his native town in 1948, when he was only thirteen years old. His first solo exhibition was held at the Galleria Totti (Milan) in 1956. In 1958 he began working with Enrico Castellani and Piero Manzoni, participating in a group exhibition at the Galleria Pater (Milan) which was followed by others (Rome, Milan, Lausanne). He participates in the foundation of the magazine Azimuth and in exhibitions at the gallery of the same name. Following in the footsteps of Lucio Fontana, the group's mentor, Agostino Bonalumi began to develop the idea of what he called "pittura-oggetto" (object painting). In 1959, his first solo exhibition outside Italy was held in Rotterdam. The following year (1960), the artist was one of the founders of the international movement New European School (NEE) in Lausanne. Arturo Schwarz began to collect his works and, in early 1965, organized a Bonalumi exhibition in his gallery in Milan. The artist will have close ties with the German art scene, as with the "zero movement" (Netherlands, Germany). He participated several times in the Venice Biennale (1966, 1970), the Sao Paulo Biennale (1967) and the Biennale des Jeunes Artistes in Paris. He spent a period of study and work in North Africa and America, living for a time in New York. In the early 1970s, Agostino Bonalumi launched his own private course in environmental painting and sculpture. From then on, the artist's work was regularly presented in numerous personal and group exhibitions (Foligno, Rome, Dortmund, Milan, Venice, Modena, Mantua, etc.). Retrospectives will follow (Turin, Brussels, Moscow). Agostino Bonalumi died in Monza in September 2013. Three weeks after his death, opens the exhibition "Agostino Bonalumi. All the forms of space 1958-1976" at the Robilant and Voena Gallery in London, the first retrospective devoted specifically to his work from the 1950s to the 1970s.

Artists on display
The art and the artists display: proclamations, galleries, museums, personal or collective exhibitions. On walls or in shop windows, wise or rebels, posters warn, argue, show. Some were specially conceived by an artist for such or such event, other, colder, have only the letter.
Some were created in lithographic technic, most are simple offset reproductions. They are many those who like collecting these rectangles of paper, monochrome or in games of colours, in matt paper or brilliant, with many words or almost dumb.
We are happy also to be able to greet, by this pages, mythical galleries as those of Denise René, Louis Carré, Claude Bernard, Berheim Jeune, Maeght, Pierre Loeb and others.
