American born in New York in 1909, Henri Goetz was naturalized French in 1949. He was 26 years old when he married the painter Christine Boumeester from Holland. He shared all his life long with her. He began his art studies in Harvard, then studied to the Central School of New York. Later, in Paris, he still learnt to the Jullian Academies, the Grande Chaumière and in the atelier of Amédée . . .

The publication of a postal stamp is often a homage paid by a nation to a place, an event, a remarkable cause or a character which count. The painters and other artists do not escape from this rule. Some are however "forgotten" of postal art. Here, gathered below (French or foreign), emitted stamps (206) or simple studies of stamp (224) in homage to the artists represented on our website. The first French stamp was emitted in 1849, England preceded us by ten years. There is often a share of voyage in this small form of shape paper. The stamp circulates, sails, flies away, it makes dream, then dream a little. M.C.

A tribute to Henri Goetz

Henri Goetz disparaît brutalement le samedi 12 août 1989. Il repose, au côté de sa femme, Christine Boumeester, au cimetière Montparnasse (12ème division). Henri Goetz avait souhaité faire représenter une oeuvre de celle-ci sur la tombe lors de sa disparition en 1971, tombe qui deviendra la dernière demeure du couple. Une plaque des élèves de son académie est scellée sur la stèle. Pour notre part, nous avons choisi, en hommage, une méduse, belle comme une fleur, étrange et colorée comme un élément d’une gravure de celui qui inventa un monde si personnel.
