Jacques Herold was born in Piatra Neamt (Roumania) in 1910. Very young, Jacques Herold refuses to accept all kinds of academic painting classes. He first realizes few posters to pay his trip on the Danube River; he arrives in Paris in 1930. He works as Brancusi’s assistant. He meets with surrealist painters, one of whom being Yves Tanguy.
