Biography of Santiago Cogorno
Santiago Cogorno is born in Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 1915. His family moves to Italy in 1923. He learns to paint with Raul Soldi, and then continues his training with Atilio Bernasconi. After a year in Argentina (1931), Santiago Cogorno is student of the Brera Academy under the direction of Aldo Carpi (1932-35, Milan). He leaves Italy in the declaration of war (1939), returning to Argentina until 1946 and his return to Milan. His first solo exhibition is held in St Moritz (Switzerland) in 1949. Many exhibitions of his gouaches are held in Buenos Aires in the early 50s. The artist now exhibits with great regularity (solo and group exhibitions), participating for example in the Biennial of Sao Paulo (1957) or that of Venice (1958), receiving numerous awards. After a trip to southern Argentina (1958), Santiago Cogorno returns to Italy for a period of 6 years; there, he exhibits particularly at “Il Millone” Gallery (Milan). Many other exhibitions are organized on his behalf, primarily in Italy until the end of his life. His first sculpture exhibition is held at Rubbers Galery (Buenos Aires) in 1969. Santiago Cogorno dies in 2001.

Artists on display
The art and the artists display: proclamations, galleries, museums, personal or collective exhibitions. On walls or in shop windows, wise or rebels, posters warn, argue, show. Some were specially conceived by an artist for such or such event, other, colder, have only the letter.
Some were created in lithographic technic, most are simple offset reproductions. They are many those who like collecting these rectangles of paper, monochrome or in games of colours, in matt paper or brilliant, with many words or almost dumb.
We are happy also to be able to greet, by this pages, mythical galleries as those of Denise René, Louis Carré, Claude Bernard, Berheim Jeune, Maeght, Pierre Loeb and others.
