Jean Deyrolle was born in Nogent-sur-Marne, France in 1911, where his father, who was a military doctor, was stationed. His family is Breton and they will settle in Vannes when he is only a few months old. They move to Quimper, then to Concarneau after the death of his father when he is 13.
